You need to be 18 years old or older to buy weed or hash (you are allowed to wear 5 gram, but there is no fine one it if you have a litle bit more for own use and especially if you are a tourist). Sometimes in a coffee shop, where you can buy legally weed or hash, they ask you to identify with a European identifaction card or your paspport (all paspports are accepted to buy weed or hash).

You can buy rolled joints in coffee shops (per joint there is around the 0.4 gram weed or hash). If you want to roll your own joint, you need a block of tips and big rolling paper together with some tabac. You can buy that at the most tabacco shops in Netherlands. A block of tips is around the 1 euro and a big rolling paper is also around the 1 euro for a package (mostly 50 tips and rolling papers). Tabacco is expensive in Netherlands (around the 13 euro for 20 cigarettes). 1 joint needs 1 tip, 1 rolling paper, 1 cigarette (mostly you don’t use the whole cigarette), around the 0.4 gram has or weed and a lighter.

Smoking in public is forbidden in Netherlands, but mostly police is not arresting when hiding the joint somewhere on a quiet location. The fine is not big and only a payment, but mostly first time is a warning. It is not a big issue in Netherlands to smoke outside and happens a lot. There are no big checks on smoking a joint outside.

Smoking joints in hotels are forbidden. Also in coffee shops and other public covered locations smoking weed or hash is forbidden.

Outside your hotel, on a quiet location of it, it is legal to smoke weed and hash.

After use of a joint, the only thing is what is forbidden to do is driving a car, motorcycle or other motorized transport.

If you are not driving, smoking weed inside a car is legal.
